RECAP

RECAP: Resources for Cultural Policy is a project which aims to improve the quality and flow of documentation in a variety of forms on the theme of cultural policy.

This involves fostering co-operation between documentation centres to make their collections available to a wider audience across Europe and across language barriers. Valuable information is often currently accessible only to a local or national audience but by using new technologies RECAP hopes that information exchange will be enhanced.

RECAP also hopes to provide reviews on new or recent cultural policy publications. In the future these reviews will be linked to the partners collections, maximising interest for the users.

Over the last two years the Boekman Foundation has been developing a thesaurus on cultural policy. This thesaurus is now available in English and Dutch and it is hoped that it will be translated into other languages soon. RECAP has applied for funding to develop all of its work but if the grant is agreed it will also mean the application of the thesaurus in at least five European partner documentation centres' collections.
