NEW ALLIANCES: Culture – Social Cohesion – Civil Society
Round table, Vienna, 24-25 November 2000
CIRCLE, together with the Canadian Cultural Research Network (CCRN), organised a Round Table on “Making Connections: Culture and Social Cohesion in the New Millennium” at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, 26-27 May 2000. It was the first time that CIRCLE had organised a Round Table outside Europe. Its Canadian partner, CCRN was founded in 1998, and its activities have been modelled along the same lines as those of CIRCLE.
A follow up to the successful round table on Social Cohesion and Cultural Policy took place in Vienna on 24th-25th November 2000.
The central theme of the seminar was “Culture Policies and Participation, Civil Society and Social Cohesion” and three board issues have been defined as areas that requires attention, and those were explored though the seminar: participation, forging broader alliances and economic predicament.
